Where's Brake Stop Lamp Switch 92 500SL

Where is the brake stop lamp switch in a 1992 500SL? I have an ASR problem that seems to often be cured with replacing this switch. They have already tested/replaced the wheel sensors and the neutral safety switch.

Thanks in advance.

Look at the pedal, follow it up. The thing is on the braketry that holds the brake pedal.

Procedure

You'll have to turn this part clockwise (I believe) along the long axis of the car about 90 degrees, then remove it. I can't remember if there's a connector to remove, but suspect that tehre is. Fully extend the new part's plunger (it should make a clicking sound when you do this) and insert, then reconnect.

About 5 minutes to do. or 20 minutes if you wait until after dark and only have a penlight to guide you, like I did.

Thank you, thank you, yk2immel!! I followed your instruction and found the switch!! It's a biatch to remove for sure, but i turned clockwise and finally got it out. I've already got a new one and promptly reinserted it back to the housing.

The BAS light on problem went away completely after the install. Yeepee!!

One quick question: I try to fully extend the plunger and then insert it, but the plunger seems to be depressed a bit when i plugged it into the housing. Is this normal?

Thanks again guys!!
