560sl a/c problem

My 1986 560sl a/c compressor will not come on , no power to clutch,also noticed when this happened the air recirculator switch in center of dash has no power red light used to come on and I heard a relay click in, now it does not. Everything else works fan,heat, defrost but no a/c .Fuses are ok is there an a/c relay some where?

By far, the most likely problem is a low refrigerant charge. There is a low pressure switch that interrupts the circuit when the charge is low to protect the compressor from damage.

Connect a/c manifold gauges and check the charge.

Larry, I have no power to the pressure switch either.

i even tried to jump the switch but no voltage there

In this case, you really need to get a wiring diagram and work back from the pressure switch. You should, of course check your system fuses to start with.
