Which Engine Do I Have?

Need an alternator but there are 3 "engine ranges". How do I know which engine I have? EX: 0472487

1976 450 SE

The range should be by VIN in most cases. Usually the range numbers are the last 6-7 digits of the VIN.

They may be asking for an engine number - it's of course on the engine but sometimes hard to get at and read. Your dealer should be able to run a VMI on the car and that would have it - assuming that your car has the original engine.
