shift delay

The Check Engine light has come on in my 1994 E320 MB.
Diagonostics has determined that it is the shift delay cable that has faulted. Will anything serious result if I choose not to fix this right away? Everything else checks out fine.
Thanks, Bill Scott

Should be OK

The shift delay is primarily to warm up the cats and transmisison to help emissions in cold weather. You should be OK.
