Brake Pad Replmt 92 500 SL
I am in midst of brake pad replacement with PBR deluxe pads. I copied info from alldatadiy. The old pads have two thin sheets of metal, one is solid and the other has a circle of holes. diy call these dampers (?). The PBR pads do not come with these dampers and diy instructs to apply pad greese if no damper. The sheets (dampers) would seem to serve for heat dissapation. Should I use the sheets (dampers) with the PBR pads?

The metal inserts act more like shims to prevent the pads from rattling when applied (translates to brake squealing). The Pagids come with new inserts, but the Mintex and PBRs do not. Don't reuse them.
Brake paste serves the same purpose, and I apply the paste when I do the brake pads replacements on mine for the same reason...to prevent squealing when the brakes are applied.
