climate control temperature dial illumination /126
I lost the illumination on the left dial of the climate control.
It has been a long while since I replaced these bulbs and I cannot remember - Is it better (simpler) to gain access by removing the driver-side lateral panel(fabric clad), or do I need dismantle the entire console and all the switches to get in there ? TIA. 1987-300SE/Euro |

I will renew my plea to the moderators to forbid posting images of manual AC controls. It's not fair to those of us MBUSA ignored!
I have a manual AC control set from an older 126 and it looks like my long fingers could get to the bulb holder, which presses into the dial unit, from the radio cavity. Follow the blue and brown wire pair that leads to the dial with the bad bulb. If you have an aftermarket stereo, the sleeve might have to come out. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |

Cool.I will try tomorrow. I am sure the sleeve will have to come out for me to reach anywhere.
thanks Sixto. |

Done
I could not reach up and around from the radio cavity. I did pull the radio and metal sleeve, but the (original) plastic sleeve I could not remove or fight ( without dismantling the console & switches) . I just don't have those rubber fingers... So I ended up removing the lateral Side Panel and only then found my way to the blue/brown wires leading to the burnt bulb. The small bulb is situated on the ouside wall of the dial, so that was a beeter way for me. thanks again
