C36 AMG temp questions

hello,

I was wondering what operating tempertures other C36 AMG owners are seeing while driving , i.e highway, stopped traffic, city, cruising etc..

This one seems to be runiing 100C in stopped traffic and @
85-90 while cruising and highway speeds, when pushed, the temp raises up to 110 before coming back down to 90-100, do these numbers sound about right?

Should the fan sensors be clicking on and off around 110C like the 16v? or what are the temps they should be chicking on

thanks
Dave

ALL our late model MB's, including the 98 C230, 98 E300, and 95 C36 would run at about 100-102C (using the digital readout in the ACC panel...another post...) in warm weather with the AC working while stopped. Then, as we moved on, the temp would fall to about 90C. On the highway, it would fall to 83-87C or so.

BTW, this topic has been covered in about 1000 posts. Do a search under "engine temp" or other key words and you'll find this and oil questions are very common.

MB's coolant gauges are REAL. Other cars have non-linear gauges designed to make you think the coolant temp is static no matter the operating conditions.

I can only add that my E36 is behaving exactly the same, and I am told this is a normal behaviour for our babies...

I don't have a C36, but I have the 3.2 liter M104 engine in my W124.

In hot weather, above 85 degrees or so, in stop and go traffic or after exiting the freeway after a spirited run, my temp gauge goes slowly up to 107, when the high speed fan kicks in and drops in down to 100, whn the high speed fan stops.

It will run consistently in the upper 90's to around 100.

If I'm maintaining a consistent speed on the freeway, even it hot weather, the temp gauge stays between 85 and 90.
