Please Please Help...

I own a 16-Valve, 86, and I'm having some MAJOR issues with it...

To start off, I sent the car to a veteran Mercedes-Benz mechanic for a valve job. Three weeks later, the car was ready, but to my chagrin, the car is ruined!

While the car was there, I had the Acc Belt Tension Damper replaced, as well as the Belt Idler Pulley, and Tensioner. A new Belt was fitted as well. I also wanted the chain tensioner replaced with the new ratcheting one, but after two tries, the mechanic gave up and put in the old one again, claiming the new type was too tight for my engine... Who knows?

So, I get the car back, it starts much better but does not rev like it used to. It sounds like its choking, and doesn't like to go up hills and drives about as quick as my 300D. The car I gave the mechanic was a rocket, figuring a valve adjustment would be good for it, now, the car feels ruined... When you floor the engine it takes forever to rev through the range... Any suggestions?

To add insult to injury, my stereo faceplate was stolen and my ac/heater blower doesn't work anymore. Suffice to say, I'm not happy.

Thought I would run these complaints by your guys. I really appreciate your time and consideration of my misfortune with a bad mechanic.

Take it back to the half-baked mechanic. If he balks, contact an attorney. Not much anyone here can do about this. You're going to have to handle this one.

I would take car back to mechanic, let him recheck all timming marks. Could have miss aligned marks causing lack of power.
the tensioner should fit, he might not be installing it properly. It must go in PEiceS aND noT as Whole.

Randall,

You might consider increasing the specificity of your subject line ... not sure "Please Please Help ..." gets the interest level going ...

BTW, I don't think the "car is ruined" ... it was just not fixed correctly.

Get your money back, charge the mech for replacing the things stolen and broken, find a new mech ...
