The W100 600 had twin calipers.

Unless you race your car and have huge amounts of money, why bother? The brakes that came with your car are properly sized for your car. Unless you're running on unlimited speed highways, which you're not since your in Canada, you won't need huge twin calipered brakes.

Sorry to rain on your parade. I think it's overkill.

IMHO.

W100? what year was that?

i recall reading about an Audi A4 with twin brembo calipers in the front. and i think they said it wasn't much useful since the breaking power exceeded the capability of the tires to stop. and the way i think of it if it has ABS then the overkill of the friction surface will just make it go into anti slip mode more. however i don't know maybe it would benefit a heavy car like the maybach? they wouldn't engineer it unless it does.

The reason I was thinking about this is that it would be much cheaper for me to buy 4 calipers than a big brake upgrade package. I don't know what other parts would be required either.
I'm just curious about things like this. Anyway, I'll ask my friend about the brakes on his 600. I didn't know they had twin calipers. I suppose it needs them since its so heavy.

wbain was speaking of the OLD 600's, not the S600 that you would see now. The 600's he was referring to were around in the late 60's to '80 (I think).
Thanks
David

I knew that he meant an W100. My friend's W100 600 is black.

M100 would be the engine, W100 would be the car.

LOL...thanks for mentioning that. I just fixed it. The w100 has twin brake calipers in front only. By the way, that car is for sale if anyone is interested.

I'll give him $1,000, no more. I'm sorry, I just thought that since the old w100's were so rare, and the newer ones so common that it was a w140 or w220.
Thanks
David

The brakes on the Maybach are the new SBC Sensotronic Brake Control. Two complete brake systems, master cylinders and all!

All I can say is: Those rotors are gonna be REALLY hot. Then again, considering what the Maybachs weighs.....
