Since my 1987, 300E died on me, a couple a months ago, i can't get it started again. At the begining i was thinking I will put new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter, so it will help, because most of it was old, i mean this parts, but it did not help at all.
I got it by three dif. mechanics since then, and finaly the fourth one thinks he knows what it is. He sad that is sending to much fuel, so i found new fuel pressure regulator, and fuel distributor. Still the same, engine full of gas. He can get it to start, but sending to much gas again. Finaly, he checked the fuel pressure, and it's 150 pounds. How much needs to be, and wyhat needs to be done. Please help me, i invested to much money in this car! My e-mail adress is hasibomeragic@sbcglobal.net! Thanks! |

Assuming that the pressure is being measured with the right tools at the fuel distributor, that's 'way high. The spec is 5.3-5.5 bar.
Maybe the return line is blocked?

Your new regulator could be bad (unlikely).
The fuel pump could be going crazy (unlikely). I don't have my 300E anymore, but I would think that you would unhook the fuel return line at the tank, stick the end in a suitable container, run the pump for 10 seconds by bridging the fuel pump relay, and see what comes out. If mechanic 4 can't do this, time for mechanic 5. Suggest not smoking during test.
