I had the purge valve replaced about 6 months ago. P1444 was the code at that time and it is now back. The check engine light comes on and may stay on for a day or two or maybe up to a week. Does eventually go off and may stay off for days or even a couple of weeks. My mechanic doesn't think the "new" purge valve is bad and that it might not have even been bad when it was replaced. However that is the only code that comes up. Don't know if it is significant but sometimes only the check engine light comes on and sometimes the center dash message board also comes on that says "check engine electronics". The latter message is a real pain since you lose mileage, time etc. and it looks worse than it is. Needless to say, car seems to run fine. I did replace gas cap just in case-no help. Any help is sincerely appreciated.
