I am working on an E-class (98- model) and have a problem with the radiator indicator light staying-ON, although the car is not overheating and the water level is right. I don't have access to a engine analyzer nor a service manual and not a reliable dealer near by. Do give me some advice.

The windshield washer reservoir sending unit is in series with coolant level sensor & these have high failure. test resistance of w/s washer tank sensor, open or short will cause COOLANT lamp to come on.

Thankyou for responding to my question. I have checked the sensor on the w/s washer and it seems alright. Is there any thing else I could check?
P.S: What should the resistance on the sensor be.

The w/s sensor must have more than 5ohm when empty. And the full reading is 175ohm. Again an open or short(1-2ohm) in this sensor will turn lamp COOLANT lamp on.

Thanks for your reply. I have checked and the resistance readings are fine and there is no open circuit. could you possibly get access to a service manual for the car? Is there any way we could reset the onboard computer? I tried by diconnecting the cars battery for a while, but that didn't work.
could you possibly give any other possible faults related to the problem?
