Brake Vacuum Booster Location: 94 C280
I suspect that my vacuum booster boster is failing and I'd like to perform the test on it that my Haynes manual outlines. Unfortunately I can't find the damn thing on my car. I even looked on fastlane to see what the part actually looks like, and no luck. Can someone tell me where it is? I 'm sure its right in front of my face, but sometimes I'm just dumb like that. The car is a '94 C280.
Thanks, Jonathan |

Driver's side at the back of the engine compartment. It has a vacuum line and master cylinder attached to it.
Why do you suspect it is failing?

I followed the only vacuum line I could find out of the master cylinder, which went under the intake manifold, but I couldn't find the booster. Is that the one?
I suspect it is failing as there are occassions that when I step on the brakes it feels as though I am not getting full power assistance. I have to use much more force than usual, and it still doesn't respond as it should. The pads were all replaced last November, and have perhaps 6,000 kms on them. The lines were replaced at the same time with stainless steel, and the rotors are only a little over a year old. I had the brake fluid flushed when I did the lines and pads, and then I flushed it again last month just to be sure it wasn't fluid related. Thanks for the response, Jonathan |

The booster is the part the master cylinder bolts to. It looks like a big silver can.

As I said, right in front of my face Thank you for pointing it out to me. I was looking for something much, much smaller.
