I believe a have a Timing chain tensioner problem on my 92 400E (124k Miles) From a cold start I notice the rattling/knocking sound which has been metioned in previous posts.
Just wondering if anyone has had this repair done? Did it correct the problem? and what I can expect to pay? Also any estimates on the price for replacing the monobelt tensioner (belt squeak problem from another post?) Thanks in advance, Alan |

I don't remember the price, but I have done the tensioner replacement on many 400 & 500E's and it has worked.
The other thing we see is for the check valve in the oil canister to leak down. I think the book time on the timing chain tensioner is about 2-3 hours or so. The time on the belt tensioner is about 1.5, I think. ------------------ Benzmac: Donnie Drummonds 300E ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM OWNER OF MB AUTOWERKS .COM |
