W124 stuck (mechanical) seat

On my 260E, the right front seat was stuck (the idiot previous owner had forced the plastic adjustment wheel until it broke; just replaced). That means the backrest will adjust forward, but not aft - any attempt to force it aft will break the wheel again.

Should I try to grease the mechanism? How exactly would one dismantle the seat without ruining it?

My seats are sport-type, yet with mechanical adjustment - so, for the members who complain on their faulty electric ones: mechanicals can break down too

~Thank you
