benz cellphone

Just recently purchased 1994 s350d.
It has a cellphone control mounted in the dash above the radio. I wish to remove same in hopes of installing some kind of cup holder as car has none. How can I do this without distroying anything?

Thank you

John Ellis

GEEZ I just sold a new indash controller like this too..
um, there are clips, on the top I believe. You'll see a couple of notches, one is near the "3" keyboard key, the other near the "up" volume button. Insert a thin blade into those slots, only have to go back 1/2 inch or so. This will release the locking tabs, then you have to figure out how to pull it out, maybe a hook like is used to remove the instrument cluster.

Phone pocket

There was a tool to release those latches at the top, but a knife blade will also release them. Pull out the control unit and unplug the cables at either side. You will find a bracket that held the control head, I removed mine by removing the screws at the rear of the bin, working it out and then removing the bracket that is held by two screws. You can push the two cables into the dash and re-install the bin. I also removed the hangup in the arm rest, by removing the screws at the sides pulling the panel up. The carpet can be brushed up and looks pretty good. The hole left in the upper bin can be covered by a piece of velcro (the fuzzy part).
You could put a cup holder in the arm rest bin, something with holes and a couple of posts to support it off the bottom

benz cellphohone

Thanks to Gilly and Peter Guenther for responding to my cellphone removal project. Job was done in 15 minutes using 2 haksaw blades and lots of jiggling with 2 screwdrivers.

Now, is there anyone out there that may want this antique?

Will deposit it in dumpser if no responce
