Most members don't peruse this forum. The available tools are currently listed in the first post. Contact the member via PM or e-mail to arrange a rental for that tool.

I have one, a Bosch it'll fit but you have an aluminum head, so be careful.

Take an old / dead glow plug, hammer the tip flat, and use that. The 603 glow plug holes rarely need reaming. If the plug came out easily with your fingers, the hole doesn't need reaming. If you had to use tools to extract the plug, then yeah, there's carbon buildup that should be removed...

Thanks guys. I had 3 gone bad and those were a little stuck but the others were fine. I will sleep on this. Have a great day .

I take it you have done this were you not afraid the tip might brake off and get stuck in the head. It is a good idea and am going to give it a try. Thanks again.

Jim.

Want to buy/rent tool to pull the pin from the timing chain rail on the 300E with 103 engine. I just bought two cars that need head gaskets.

you don't need a tool for that, look at my headgasket thread, you just need a screw and a socket...

good luck

It's possible with a bolt, socket, and stack of washers... but it's a nuisance. The tool is about $30 and if you expect to use it more than once, it's worth it. Click here to see one on eBay from a reputable seller.

The tool is already on the rental list.

Would anyone Perchance have a Injector Removal Socket for the OM603?

gsxr 12-29-2009 10:51 AM

The injector socket is just a 27mm deep socket with clearance internally for the return line hose barbs. Rumor is, a standard Craftsman deep socket will work ok (just don't force it on to the injector!). About $10 from your local Sears store. It would cost about that much to ship a socket both ways via rental. The proper Hazet socket (MB p/n 001-589-65-09-00, shown here) is about $25 or so.

Brian Carlton - could you edit the first post on this thread, to suggest a minimum value on rental tools? I mean, some things just aren't worth renting. Maybe even add some of those (like the injector socket) to the list, with a note that indicates the tool is not expensive enough to warrant a rental. Just a thought...

Dave, the first post is edited by me and only lists the available tools for rent. If someone were to suggest a rental of said socket, I would provide them your explanation via PM.

The current problem with the first post is that members don't read the available list because it's become lengthy. They post requests for tools already on the list.

Putting additional verbiage in that post will only exacerbate that situation.

True - but it would make it easier to tell people, "go read the first post!". Oh well...

:D

Does anyone have a Glow Plug Reamer for the older, loop-style plugs? I have a 77' 240D, if that helps.
