Mercedes Sales Supplement video 1987: BMW 750IL vs Mercedes S Clas
This is the first full length video I've recorded from the recent stash I received. I find it fascinating that they knock the cars complexity and electronic throttle, and say the Mercedes is superior because of its simple engineering.
They also have the 750 and 560SEC drag race. A decade later MB throws that attitude away. Anywho. More to come: Part 1 Part 2

"Time and miles will tell" How many 560SELs still out on the road compared to 750iLs

Didn't Mercedes want to introduce the W140 around 1989, but delayed its introduction until the V12 was ready? IIRC the V12 was drive by wire as well
I do like the way CIS drives compared to modern electronic throttle systems though. -J

Yes, it was a very fortuitous prediction. That's why I was so fascinated. You can imagine how these guys tear apart the Jaguar XJ6 and Acura Legend too (other videos to come).

How is the audio quality in person as opposed to the recording of a recording?

Richard Nixon made some interesting points here. A lot of the concerns that he highlighted about the BMW are the same concerns that I heard from W123 and W124 owners about my W210 when I first bought it. There was too much electronics, it's too complicated etc etc. Battery is also under the back seat :-)
I've got to say though, I only see an E32 750il once in a blue moon these days. HitmanX has one and a 560SEL. Maybe he should chime in.

Tyler, I have some old VW sales videos I need to digitize... I'm going to run over to the University of Michigan media lab and do a proper transfer. I'd be happy to do some of those cassettes too.

From there, you would need to do a demographics study on the original buyers, and the average time any car was owned by it's first owner. From there it would get really cloudy to a large degree. |

Or you could simplify is with percentages. How many sold vs how many are still registered for each model.

Either Ford or Chevrolet (I think Ford) had an advertising slogan; "more pickups - still on the road today - versus brand X" |
