Talking 108 tire conversion

I have come across five tire wheel combos for sale on ebay. These tires and wheels are said to be off a 2000 s-class size is as follows, wheels: 7 1/2 " x 16 H2, ET 46 made in germany by Ronal, 7 spoke/ 7 hole. Tires: Continental Conti Touring Contact EcoPlus 225-55-16 95H.

The vehicle that im intrested in installing these on is a 1967 250s. I realize the offset is different mine being a 30mm as compared to these at 46mm. I was hoping a good quality spacer would be the answer to this difference. I really need some advice from someone with some experiance with this retro fit. Tire size is also an issue???

Part of the appeal of these is the asking price of 400.00 and the fact that the seller lives in my home town eliminating shipping costs.

Prepared to be slapped if i'm way off base with this one....thanks -Mark

Widest tire I've used on a 250 ('72 W114) is a 205/70R14. 225 is pretty wide. What about mounting hardware? You'll need longer wheel bolts just for the alloys, plus an extra 16MM to accommodate the spacers, assuming the wheel bolt pattern/diameter is the same. I'd first want the opportunity to attempt to bolt on one of those rims to test for fit & clearance problems, especially in front.

Happy Motoring, Mark

Thanks for your reply Mark...I have found a spacer avalible from Gil Racing that seem's to be just the ticket for the wheel offset. These spacers seem to be very well made and are hub/wheel centric as well as stud centric. The spacer is attached to the hub using Gil Racing (in this case) provided studs and then the wheel is attached to the spacer using the appropriate mounting studs for the wheel used.

As far as the 225 tire your right that is definetly an issue....a bit wide for my application. I am going to take a drive to this fella's house this morning and check the wheels out measure the profile that sorta' thing. I am in the prosess of rebuilding my driveshaft so I can't take the 108 but I think maybe i'll take a stock wheel with me for comparison.

Here are a couple site's that helped wet my appetite for this particular swap...

Whats crazy about the GilRacing spacers is the price ....nearly 100.00 usd each.

thanks, -Mark

You are going to get tire rub on the rear wheel wells. 205 is as wide as you can go, and even then sometimes you get some rub on hard turns at low speed up front, too.

Wheel spacers are illegal in some states, and they should be.
