how to drop / lower my MB

hi planning to drop my fintail a little to look sporty and hot. what is the best thing to do? are there any lowering springs for 110 fintails. or do i just get a set of surplus springs and cut it off . will this be fine . what do u recommend

I think you can change out the spring pads.

Hey,

I was looking into the same with my w116 and figured out that there are actually 2 solutions: The easiest would be to try to find those springs on newer cars. Benz uses the same parts over and over again. If the generation after your is backwards compatible which it is most likely, then maybe those are made by eibach. If not look at a newer generation which is backwards compatible. With the w116, I found that the front springs from a 380sel is compatible and the 560sel springs are compatible with the rear. Those are all carried by eibach.

The second option would be to try to find a place on the internet that makes custom springs. I got a quote on them and they were almost cheaper than eibachs.

the big problem is the rear. since the axle is basically hinged in the center, the tops of the wheels tilt in as you lower the car. too much tilt/negative camber is bad, it will wear the inside of the tires. about -1 degrees is usually helpful to handling so thats about as low as you can go in the rear.

the front prolly has its limits too, but you're limited by the car looking goofy with the rear too high

as far as actually doing it, here some suggestions in order of ease
1. take out any spring pads/spacers, my tr3 has 3" ones, its super low without em!
2. find a softer/shorter spring from a different model/car line. i have a buddy who put subaru springs in his rx7 and loves it!
3. measure the stock springs, and order some up to your specs. prolly some trial and error here, unless you find someone with experience (racers!)
4. cut the stock spring, dont use a torch! trial and error, cutting coils shortens the spring, and raises the rate, it might work great, it might not
