fuse box removal of W116

Hi,
it seems I have water leaking to the inside from under and around the fuse box area of the fire wall. My question is : How do I remove the fuse box for better access ? It was not evident.

Let me guess, water is dripping on your left foot when it rains? This happened to me with '74 280. Windshield gasket was the culprit.

I think it takes guts and nerves of steel to attack the fuse box with rat's nest of wires - breaking brittle insulation and mixing up connections in the process.

If it was me, I'd caulk the fuse box edges with non-electrical conductive black latex sealant first..... if that's where you think the water is coming from.

Yeah, I figured it now. Seems to be a real hassle to get it. It has the screws attched from the inside. It has parts rusted below th fuse box. I ended up just using a sealant from the inside. Very little space to work there. I think I should also alter the water path coming from the hood hinge area to go directly down to the wheel well by drilling a hole down and using some tubing. This hood hinge area seems very vulnerable for water leaks.

There should already be a drain there at the hood hinge, usually covered and blocked with debris same as the w123.

Another place you will find blocked drains is trunk compartment - both side pocket areas - hidden under plastic liner on the w123. I found 4" of standing water there on mine, removed and threw the plastic liners in the trash to keep an eye on the drains.
