W108 power window wiring?
I am trying to adapt a 2 wire power window regulator to my 1967 250s. The original power window regulator from the car had 3 wires. Is it possible to make this work? Does anyone have any ideas on how to wire it?
Thanks for the help. |

Window motor wiring
I'll check some prints to verify (when I locate them), but for the moment, I think you'll find that the earlier motors used a "centertap" return path and offered drive current to either end of a winding (two other wires) for the two directions; some later models use a pair of switch contacts to make/break both sides alternatively, reversing the current flow through the two wires. There were even a few 250S's and maybe SE's which had fronts and rears different, one being the older type and one being the newer...
If the above is verified, I suspect you can only really solve the wiring logic by using a newer-type switch for the newer motors/regulators. Will advise by PM when confirmed and if any bright ideas strike me... Stan |

Bet you gave up on me. Yeah I finally found that bulletin. Email classicparts@mbusa.com and ask for the modifications from 3 wire to 2 wire power window wiring. They will mail it to you. Or you can go to mbusa.com and they have a link for "Ask a question". That is how I got the info anyway. Is a 4 page bulletin with pictures, schematics, drawings, and a parts list.

I have the original wiring diagram from the vintage instruction manual for a 280SEL. It might be what you want.

I got the technical bulletin today from MB and ordered the parts that were still available to build the new wiring harness. Thanks again for the advice.
