My 1975 280C M110 W114 dead?

Okay so, I am home for spring break, working on my cars making sure things are in order with the 300E and organizing my work with the 280C.
I purchased 6 new spark plugs for the 280C.

So before starting my work I just look around the engine bay, checking fluids, oil level, etc.

Then I open the oil filler cap.... AND....

SLAP TO THE FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

White milky coating on the bottom of the cap.

Is my head gasket blown?

If it is, what should I do with this car. Obviously very expensive to repair by professional... Can I pull the head myself and take it to a shop for checking flatness and then reinstall myself? What tools do I need to purchase for this? Or can I lift the head myself?

Part is out? Once I sell the parts I can, how much is it going to cost to get what is left hauled away?

Very frustrating, but to be expected... I guess it is only a matter of time once my M103 blows up too...

This sucks...

I wouldn't freak right away - probably just condensation that built up. Wipe it off, warm 'er up and change the oil. If you have crud on the cap the next day, you can freak at that time.

When it's running....

take off the radiator cap and check for air bubbles. Otherwise, do a leak-down test.

I agree...don't panic yet. How does the oil on the dipstick look?

Re: the m103 - are you approaching 200k miles on the original head gasket? If so, you're lucky!

definitely wait until after an oil change and it's been running a bit to condemn the head gasket and the motor.

No reason not to look around a bit for a used motor. They're a lot more cash friendly than a rebuild.
