I can't belive I did this
![]() Last night, I was changing the steering coupler on the W110. On re-assembly, I accidently plugged the turn signal plug in the instrument cluster plug socket on the main harness, and fried the fuel sender in the tank ![]() The plug for the instrument cluster and the turn signals look the same and are right next to one another. Lucky I didn't burn the car up ![]() ....wonder how may MB techs made the same mistake:???; Anyone else like to share a stupid story ![]() Regards, Bryan |

stupid stupid stupid...
I can sympathize with you. A few weeks ago I was doing a valve adjustment on my 190SL. Had the valve cover off (obviously...) and I ALWAYS lay it next to the car. Not this time. I set it aside and then promptly dropped the hood on it... Nice silver dollar sized dimple in the hood, paint cracked, etc...

When I was getting my 190sl ready for re-assem.,
I stuck the grill in one night just to admire it. Forgot about it the next day, backed up, it fell off and ran right over it !!!!! |

If you don't mess up then you are not working on cars. After two long days of swapping heads to repair two blown head gaskets, I missed torqueing the cam sprocket bolt on my 190SL. The end result was that on a test drive, the cam slide off of the support bearings and created a lot of noise as the cam broke in three pieces. You can read about it at http://www.mbca.org/virginia/190sl/jim_prob.html
