bypass heater if leaking 77 450SL

Is there a u shaped fitting or hose that can be used in emergency situation if heater is leaking and bypass same until repair? Other solution? Advice appreciated Abe G

Just take a piece of heater hose and bypass the core...that's what any tech would do. 1 hose, two clamps and you're done (and cold).

yeah but make sure the bend in the hose is gradual or else it may collapse.
You can create a bend with 90 degree angled copper elbow and 1/2 inch butt ends soldered. Then use hose clamps and heater hose.

It doesn't really matter if the hose collapses. The idea is basically to cap off the two ends with one piece of hose, not necessarily to let coolant circulate through it. It really does not matter if the coolant is able to pass through or not as that would make no difference to the engine.

I don't know offhand, but if you measure the diameter of the feed tubes and go to any auto parts store they ought to be able to sell you a length of hose that will fit. Typical sizes are 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" ID.
