Anybody know what this part is called?
Hello forum friends,
I went in for a safety inspection, and mech says I need to replace the rubber part in the center of the two pics I've attached. He "says" he doesn't remember exactly what it'd called (very coyly). It is part of the throttle linkage and he says it's warped and cracked, (it is). I'd like to order it and replace it myself. I'm sure he'd like me to pay him to replace it.. Any ideas, I've looked up in my parts manual, on here searching for throttle linkage, and on the niemoeller site. I find nothin.. Thanks for the help!

It looks similar to the throttle linkage bit on my 1981 W123 300D
W123 300D Hard to find throttle linkage? I found a number stamped into the rubber bushing that was failing and then got the dealer to source it for me. |

Thanks Army, I sent my pics + your pics to the classic center. He's ordering the part for me. Now if I can figure out how to successfully change out the part...

On my car it was a (simple?) case of pinging off a 'C' clip from the front end of the throttle shaft and then sliding the shaft rearwards into the mounting bracket on the firewall. That popped the end of the shaft from the front mount. The bit with the rubber then just came off in my hand chief - honest!
I then only had to ping the ball joint bits free with a careful twist of a flat blade screw driver. Once these bits are free clean them out (I use brake cleaner on virtually everything) and then either LM grease or light machine oil them up again afterwards. |
