Becker radio question
Does anybody know the web site for the place at Becker that will refurbish old radios and install a IPOD jack in the face plate?
thanks Fred

I pulled my Europa out of my 6.3, she no work. What is the extra little box for? Also, what does BC stand for on the first 3 pushbuttons?
thanks Fred

Radio repairs
Fred,
I use John here in my neighborhood. http://www.radiomanrepair.com/ The DIN cable goes into the back of the radio. Brian O. |

The little box is an amplifer and BC is for AM. I had the Europa from my 4.5 serviced by Becker in NJ and was really pleased. They repaired the tuner (the knob wouldn't adjust in about 1/2 the band) replaced the internal lights and a slew of other little parts. They also installed the Ipod interface in the front and I removed my Becker tape deck from the glovebox. It actually sounds pretty good! Another thing to investigate would be the fuse box on the firewall if your 6.3 is anything like my 4.5. My fuse box for the radio had so much dirt in it that the fuse could not make good contact and radio operation would be intermitant. Ann

becker radio repairs?
In my opinion, its a waste of money. Had repair to old Mexico cassette by Becker ($149 plus) Crapped out shortly after. Got modern Sony installed for less then $100. Plays well and has outputs for all latest MP3 and such. Regards, Abe G

If I didn't care about how my car looked I would go that route. But I prefer to avoid the neon junk that is sold today.

Plus, a couple of thoughts - if the radio gets repaired by Becker in NJ it gets a warranty for that repair. And, there is a big difference between just an AM/FM receiver and the moving parts associated with a cassette player. I don't think we even have any cassettes anymore! I have an Alpine with all the gee gaws and lights and display in my modern daily driver. It sounds great - the whole system, sub, 2 amps and 4 speakers, is really good. But there is something about the mellow tone of my Becker playing the NPR Jazz show on Saturday night, going out to dinner in my 4.5 - and those little red and green lights : ) Ann
