108/109 3.5 pictures

Does anyone have any pictures of a 3.5 V8 factory installed in a 108 or 109? I would greatly appreciate a few pictures of things like the left and right exhaust manifolds, the oil pan, starting motor, engine supports etc. Thanks in advance.

It will look identical to a 4.5 installation in the corresponding 108 or 109 chassis to the naked eye. The only difference is not truly visible - the 4.5 is a bit taller and wider. Same length, mounts, exhaust manifolds etc.

That is a K-Jet, looks like a 107? Definitely NOT a 108 or 109.

For now here's a vid of a running 4.5...

I don't think there's a 108 3.5.

Sorry, I meant US models.

My dad had a US 72 300SEL 3.5. I didn't keep any pictures of it.

Great video Tomguy; I can clearly see the exhaust manifolds are different compared to the 116; they look like the "rams horn" manifolds from a chevy. Does anyone have a pair they are willing to part with? they can be from a 3.5 or 4.5. Thanks to all that has responded so far. I am looking for a picture of what the oil pan looks like.

Hmm, you sure that's the same vehicle? If so the engine was swapped in from a later year, as was the fan shroud.

As in like from a 126. With those valve covers and the much larger distributor, it looks more like a 420 or 560...

Talking sixto - yes there is - I've got one ;)

280sd, but mine is a UK spec so the steering is on the correct side .

From all I've read and seen it should be practically identical to the 4.5 as Tomguy has said, i'm sure the M117 is just a stroked M116 with bigger chambers.

If there is anything I can snap for you on mine let me know by private message (it's the only way I'd notice these days).

Cheers J

3.5 engine

I have the 3.5 engine out of my coupe if there's anything you need a pic of. One thing I have noticed is that the 3.5 exhaust manifolds have a 116 part# which leads me to believe they may be different than 117 manifolds even though they appear the same. I know the 111 3.5 uses the same exhaust system as a 4.5 108.

I would really like to see the L/R engine supports, L/R exhaust manifolds, and the oil pan. I would be interested to know if these engine have the engine shocks like the 107.

I'll get some pics tomorrow. Yes it does have engine shocks-no longer available from MB. I found a place that still has them as I need them before I put it back together.
