interchange of parts for 1965 220???

I have a 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220 SB 4-door sedan with the following specs:

http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/mercedes_220S_1959_technical_specifications.htm
Engine - 2.2 L straight-6 (M180.941 / R 6:
  • Capacity: 2195cc 133.9ci
  • Type: Conventional, watercooled four stroke, reciprocating piston type with 6 cylinders
  • Configuration: Front mounted, longitudinal, inline
  • Head: Pushrod and rocker actuated ohv with one valve per cylinder
  • Fuel System: 2 x Dual downdraft Solex 34 PAJTA carburetors (from July 1963: 35/40 INAT)
  • Bore and Stroke: 3.16 x 2.87 inches (80 x 72.8mm)
  • Power: 110 hp (DIN) @ 5000rpm (124hp SAE @ 5200)
  • Torque: 17.5 mkg @ 3500rpm (139.0 ft/lb @ 3700)
  • Compression Ratio: 8.7:1

When I go to http://www.allpartsexpress.com/ShopByVehicle.epc?q=&makeid=MERCEDES+BENZ%40%40MERCEDES+BENZ%40%40X&yearid=1965&mode=MK

They list
220
220S
220SE
230SL
250S

Will any of these parts work on the 220SB?

Couldn't tell from your link what specific parts you're asking about. But for 1965, there are many mechanical parts for any of the listed cars, as well as the '65 200 sedan, that are interchangeable with your '65 220Sb. And some not - fuel injection (SE,SL) vs carbs on the other cars, rear disc brakes on the 250S.

Happy Motoring, Mark

The 220Sb is a 220S. The b was used internally by Mercedes. I have a 1962 220Sb. Your car is the last of that series.

Typically, these sedans don't have many parts listed for them through online suppliers. You look at 1966 to 1972 250S or 280S and get some parts, like suspension, tune up parts, brake and a few others. A call to the Peach Parts guru will get you most anything.

You need the repair CD for the car, which also included the previous generation PONTONS, to perform repairs.

For instance:

I always try to buy parts from our host who provides the forum. They don't always have what I need which has me shopping around. Many parts are no longer available new, but spares are hoarded like treasure by members here and there.

Is there something specific you need? Where are you? Your profile is not filled out.

I am located in Belmont, CA. I have a small shop in San Mateo. My friend bought a 1965 SB for his wife. He wants to make it safe for her. I am going through the car now.

My normal suppliers have nothing for this car. A member from the corner-carvers.com forum recommend this site.

From the link above on this site (buy parts)
list www.allpartsexpress.com I assumed that was the local vendor for this site. Is that wrong?

Thanks for all your help.

a bunch of new old stock parts

Here's the link to my new old stock parts advertised in the Parts Forum. The link is also in my signature. You can see the shelves of parts (new and used) in the Ben image in my signature, too. I need to build a L O N G detached 2.5 car garage.

I have just "Gone Through" my recent 220SE W111 sedan making it safe for anyone to drive.

What level of mechanical restore? You can make it as new.
Brakes, shocks, ALL suspension rubber mounts to start.

I did another one from radiator cap to gas cap, hub cap to hubcap, front to/and rear (about 1995). about 450-500 hours to complete, motor rebuilt, all parts were touched except the insides of the transmission and rear differential gear unit (yes I pulled it apart and re-sealed). I ran perfect, no leaks, no problems for 7 years.

The site host ,Peach parts, is a good supplier but as you are in California why not go straight to the Mercedes manufacturer ?,The Mercedes Classic center in Irvine Cal. They can supply every single part you need brand new with warranty.

The 230SL is the two-door roadster of its era. Different bodt and engine and seats.
The 220 SE and SEb have a fuel-injected engine and some dash parts different,
The 250 S is a beefed-up engine, but the trans is the same.

What parts do you need? Many are the same, and I have a 220Sb and spare parts.
