Help with mystery aftermarket steering wheel adaptor?
Hello all,
I usually hang out over in the Diesel area, but I need some vintage assistance. Years ago, I had a w111 project, which I ended up selling. I recently came across what was sold to me as a hub adapter for a Nardi or Personal brand steering wheel, for the w111. At the time I purchased it I did not really inspect it carefully, I guess, or I would have seen something was up (I have had Nardis in several cars). I now want to get rid of it but upon inspection it is clearly not for a Nardi or Personal wheel as the bolt-up hub for the wheel is far too large: approx. 2" spacing from center. The overall hub diameter, where it bolts up, is 4.5". That suggests to me it is actually a Moto-Lita or Mountney hub. Okay, but here is the question: is it actually for a Mercedes? I am not familiar with any Mercedes wheel having the two protruding prongs at the column end of the wheel. Anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated.
