1972 Mercedes Benz w108 - $3100 (Towson MD )

Fellas
Are you looking for something thats old , historic , fast and fun to drive , yet you don't want to spend all of your "flexible " income?
Then consider this car.
Its a '72 MB w108 model 280 se

Its been modified w/ a chevy small block v-8 and turbo 350 transmission . Its fast fun to drive . Its completely reliable and easy to maintain. Price out a few parts - starter , water pump ,alternator for a small block chevy you'll find them to be inexpensive and readily available .
( try that with parts for a MB ENGINE model number m130 .... not so easy on the wallet , solex dual carbs or historic bosche fuel injection -YIKES - try getting that fixed - takes ALL THE FUN AWAY ........but the local independent mechanic will love ya , and yes he'll be your friend and tell you what a neat car you have and you will be financing his 4 weeks of vacation a year )

Is the car perfect , historic and true to its german heritage - hell no

Is it reliable , fast , fun to drive - oh YES

DOES THE WIFE LIKE IT ?- MINE - hell no ...... will your wife like it - probably not.

My wife said she would tolerate my car in HER drive way if - I got it painted - I'm not doing that.

The car has been fun , I bought it when I turned 50 and wanted a car to fiddle and play with. It came from Texas and has minimal rust and all the dents and dings from being on the road for the last 40 years .I replaced seats , carpet and wood trim. Cleaned it up had it tuned up,replaced the differential etc etc.

Did I mention the wife HATES IT. Did I mention she has the ability to nag - incessantly......
So my car is for sale , if your interested let me know through email , please include a local phone number and your name

The Good
- fast and fun to drive and relatively safe , seat belts and disc brakes and good tires , wipers, lights and horn all work
- nice seats and carpet and interior wood
- you'll get lots of attention - people smile and wave
- reliable , cheap to maintain
- not perfect - some dents , some rust scratches - so it will not cause major heart burn when you aquire the next small dent and scratch
- no inspection , cheap insurance
- lots of support from internet forum - mainly PEACHPARTS.COM In the " VINTAGE SECTION"

The Bad
- no heat ( It could have - I have replacement controls - a "bear" to put in)
- no a/c ( It could have- if assembled - have all parts and GM compressor)
- power steering ( It could have - I have bracket and pump)
- its carbureted - I promised myself I would never have another carbureted engine ........but this one caught my fancy......and it starts with a rumbling growl and needs 2-3 minutes to warm up . It takes you back to 60's 70's.
- its loud - it has glass packs......
- It has some rust - but nothing that is compromising to the integrity of the car ( solid pan)
- needs a headliner

Overall a solid car , ready to drive and enjoy and "tinker " with as you please . Extra parts included - passenger door and replacement fenders, some glass misc small parts .
