How to test flasher switch for '70 300 SEL
I have looked everywhere for a wiring diagram I could use to test this switch. I just cannot find one. The nearest wiring diagram I can access is about 180 miles away, so I am hoping someone can walk me through the testing routine on this switch.
Thanks! |

I think your 109 flasher is the same as my 111 flasher, so if you have a workshop manual, look at section/page 54-1/11.
Pin connectors are: 41-Black red/green: to fusebox fuse 5 terminal 15/54 42 - brown: ground 44 - black white/green: to steering line circuit terminal 54 92 - re white to fusebox fuse 1 terminal 30 93 - black white to steering line circuit (blinker left) 94 - black green: to steering line circuit (blinker right) 41 and 42 are pins closest to center pin on plug 41 is to left of pin when looking when pin is placed south 93 and 94 are furthest away. All odd numbers are left of center pin when center pin is placed south. Good luck, Bert

Yes, the flashers should be the same.
What I can relate to are continuity across the poles. Here is what I have.... The poles are marked R with 30 under that and 31 under it. Also L with pole 49a under it and 15 under it. The photo will show what I am talking about. With the switch in the off position, pushed in, I get continuity from 15 to 49a and 31. With the switch in the on position, pulled out, I get continuity from L to everything but 15. In other words, 15 has no power when the switch is pulled out but all the other poles connect to each other. Is this the correct operation? |
