w108, what kind of screen to use over heater fan intake?

I finished the heater repair and I'm ready to put the vent cowl back on (over the wiper stubs), but was wondering what kind of screen is usually used to keep leaves and crud out of the heater fan. Any suggestions on what to use to cover the openings shown in the picture?

Thanks,
Jay

there are factory molded cutout screens that are supposed to be in there... at least they were in mine, some sort of mesh, with a fiber surround, that just sort of set in there. you should be able to find them someplace online however they are not very strong and just generally sort of flimsy.

Filters

The two cowl filters for the heater inake are still available from Benz. The part numbers are 1088300218 and 1088300118. You can get them from the MB classic center or any MB dealer that is willing to order them for you.
