In my case, first thing i did after receiving the car was:

Install Pert II & Flamethrower II, Bosch 09027 cooper wires and bosch spark plugs. I must say the car ran fine and I didn't notice anything interfering with the pert... In fact I didn't care until I start reading about the wires being solid core.

My car had a 3.5l distributor and couldn't set it on time... I replaced the dist and its running excellent.

I changed to pert I and flamethrower I, just for peace of mind ... I can say I didn't notice any difference between I and II.

I did eliminate the MB switchgear because the pert kit is cheap and simple. On the contrary the switchgear is old, and had many connections.

Still I carry pertII and MB switchgear on the trunk ... I'm pretty sure I won't be able to reinstall the MB SWG without wiring instructions in case of an emergency.... In fact as soon as I can I would get another PertI for spare and leave the SWG at home.... I hate points.

PS if you decide to go with pert, get 2 of them... Not expensive and remember that movie Contact!

My mechanic installed Flamethrower II with 0.6 matching coil on my 71 280SE 3.5. It runs great and starts great but the tachometer reads precisely 4X the actual rpm. We have tried numerous numeric resistors and either it is 4X or 0 on the tach.

Any thoughts?
