W108 6cyd car will not fire, turns! I am thinking ignition module

Hi Guys I am back on my car looking for the bug on the car that is making it not start.

I am looking more and more towards the ignition module as the problem but please don't let that point you in the wrong direction. as i could be wrong.

Do you get 12v on the resistor ( ceramic resister ) that is next to the coil????

there are two resistors ( ceramic ones ) one lower down in the inner wing and one higher up next to the coil.

The one lower down I get 12V.. clearly then the wires I think go down to a terminal block and into the ignition module it'self. it does what ever it does and I recon it then powers up to the next ceramic resistor ( next to the coil ) and that is connected to the + side of the coil..

I should be rights be getting 12v at the + of the coil ( or what ever volts because the ignition module could be reducing it down to 6V I don't know I never measured it before. this happened please can you tell me?? )
Well I am not getting any volts at the coil " + " or the ceramic resistor ( either side ) that is next to the coil..

So if your following this ... does this sound like my ignition modual is duff?

and if nothing else can some one else turn their ignition on ( don't start it ) and tell me do they get a voltage on the " + " of the coil???????

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am losing the will to live I am starting to think a V8 Chevy Nova is going to be this Mercedes's replacement as I am starting to wear thin on the issues with Mercs :-(

The back ground to this.. I have been driving the car about and it's been fine the odd hick up miss fire so I thought it was leads or plugs so I changed them all fine seemed to get better and then I added some injection cleaner and to be honest all seemed well for abit.. then it did it again misfire and misfire julted and then cut out it's not been able to start up again now for 3 weeks...

I am starting to think it's the ignition module unit that is right down on the inside of the wing by the oil cooler

any one else had this..??

The Pagoda guys have a test procedure at the bottom of the page here that I used. Mine tested fine and despite looking alright, it turned out to be a bad distributor cap.

that page is awesome wish I had seen it before....

Ok I have thanks to Dave Collins , big shout out to him!

Dave Collins Classic Mercedes Parts | Car and Classic

managed to for sensible money get another one.. it's on the way. Lets hope this is the problem with the car!!!!!

Looking at that great drawing I am not getting out power outage from the unit to the .6ohm resistor and then that goes to the coil.. so I am not getting any power out of it.. even if I go straight to the 12V side of the coil with the battery I still don't get it firing up..

Have you checked the points for condition & gap?

Happy Motoring, Mark
