1975 280SLC re-build

Rebuilding my 75 280SLC and really need to know what the connection on top of the filter bracket is.
It has about 6 inches of tube connected but going to nowhere.
Engine is 110 from a w114.
See attached, the part is centre of the photo.
Thanks in advance.

Think we have figured it out. The bracket is not original and it is for oil pressure.
Will check gauge connections and if so make the connection more substantial.

Where it all started

I have owned the car for about 16/17 years and always intended to do a re-build. Waited until I retired then started. After starting I was offered a 1 year overseas contract so put things on hold.
I had noticed a blister on the underseal on the firewall so I gave it a good jab with a screwdriver and ended up stabbing the front seat when the firewall collapsed.
See the first photo.
It then progressed to a complete strip down and blast.
So far it's taken 7 months or so and looks like another two to finish.
Lots of new panels, inner wings, floor sections, repairs around the rear window etc.
I decided to completely do the engine on the outside as well, all the inside bits done by others.
Hopefully I can post some photos when it's back in my garage, all being done in friends garage as mine got attacked by termites and collapsed stopping 6 inches short of the car roof.
Some photographs of the work done but maybe not in order of time and a set of wire wheels I bought and rebuilt to maybe fit later.

Just had the centre section of the rear bumper made and chromed locally.
Although it doesn't quite have the full outer curve as the original.
The cost of steel and shaping here was around 15 US dollars and chroming around 20 US.
I have no idea what a replacement parts purchase would be.
The final finish will the lip on the bottom of the curve to be bolted/screwed on.

Latest fix was the drain tubes from the sun roof that someone in the past had just fed into the footwells instead of outside.
