Master cylinder kit

Where is a good place to get a master cylinder kit for my 1967 250s chassis 023068.
It's not available here (fastlane).
Anyware on the planet : web add. 1-800. etc.. Maybe a German supplier!?
Best price in my erea (ottawa) so far is $131 + tax. I find that a bit high for a kit...

Thanks

DAN

The kit I got contained the entire guts of the master cylinder, and a new booster seal. Not bad for two pistons, two springs, and all the seals installed already.

Paid about as much as yours was quoted.

On the weekend i was browsing the archives and i read in one of the tread (wich i can't find right now) that you ad instaled a $40us kit (wich is why i find $131cdn a bit high) and that the master was not pited or scored, only the seals were hard and that the previus owner ad changed the fluid every 2 years.....
I'm i mistaking about that statment? If not were did you get it?
Keeping in mind that parts for the 1967 250s with a chassis number lower than 058444 are more expensive.

Thanks

Hmm. Must be having a senior moment, was sure I spent more than $40 on the master cylinder, but you are probably correct. I'm not keeping close track......

Part was from WorldPac (the source of all stuff on FastLane, by and large), so a phone call will get you definitive info.

Older model is more, and there is more than one OEM master cylinder -- I we guessed and chose the cheaper one.

Dan:

The ATE kit on FastLane is $76.xx. About what I paid, if I remember correctly, probably the same kit, too. I was only wishing it was $40, probably.

I guessed that I had the ATE master cylinder, and did. If you do not, you will have to try Rusty or BenzBin, or at worst, Classic Benz.

Can you change the master cylinder to the ATE? Might be cheaper and easier.

Peter

Dan:

Looks a lot like the ATE. Does it have a retainer screw in the middle of the bottom? If not, not an ATE, can't help.

I was going to grab the master cylinder out of the 4.5 in the u-pull-it, but it is on the crusher pile and I've not managed to get them to take it back down for me.

Yes it do's.
Would that mean that I could replace the complete (and cheaper master) from Fastlane for $81.50US? Chassis: 058444-AND UP
This is the same, it even as the same number 23 on it.
Wich bring's me to the folowing question : for that price $81.50 why din't you change the complete master on your car?

Dan:

I was quoted more like $120 for a new cylinder, and there was another one available (two, actually) at the time in the local recycle yards. Brakes worked OK except for a rear leak and some evidence of master cylinder leakage.

Main problem was under thickness rotors and bad hoses.

Unless is won't bolt on, just replace with new, it will work the same (or, obviously, better!)

Peter
