Window Lifts

All 4 of the windows in my 280c (1974) have quit. I have scanned the CD Rom electric trouble shooting chapter. The circuit has a master relay which is connected to the Master Power Bus. The Relay is energized by the ignition Key, F4 fuse, which is ok. Downstream of the relay, the windows are fused by F17, and F18.
I have searched the CD rom for the location of the relay, can't find it, nor the afore mentioned F17 and F 18 stand alone fuses.
Anyone know where the Relay and Fuses are located?
Thanks

The fuses are under a bakelite cover on top of the relay bracket on the passenger side of the firewall. The relay is under the bracket, you will need to remove the bracket to get to it.

Check for power to the relay (terminal 30) and power to the fuses. Could just be the fuses are corroded and not conducting, this is very common by now.

The windows quit in my brother's 300D (75) while we were putting it back together. Turned out to be the relay, I took it off and activated the coil with a pair of wires from the battery. Sure enough, after three or four on/off cylcles, it started to click again and now works fine. The windows, rear right especially, tend to blow fuses because the motors are VERY slow, but the relay is fine.

Another possible problem is the wires that screw into the fuses are corroded. I might be saying the same thing as psfred. I have had my radio quit in one old mercedes and the radio and windows quit in another and the a.c. in yet another. You need to unscrew the wire(s) and clean them.

Thanks
I knew that their were fuses at the Firewall, I didn't know if they were the window lift fuses.
The fuses appeared to be the originals. I cleaned the posts and even though they were not burned out replaced them with those new fancy "glass encased" models from NAPA.
Yep, I have window lifts again.
