sl wiring

I just bought a 1977 450 sl and love it. I have been cleaning and sorting out problems. I was surprised to find what looks like the original spark plug wires, is this normal?
I had always thought this was a replaceable item. The car runs rought at warm starts, but otherwise seems ok.
My net project is replacing all the vacuum hoses.

Having the original wiring is not surprising. My 190SL still has its original plug wires. The wires are solid copper and last a very long time. The plug ends have an internal resistor that sometimes fails.

If you replace the wires, stay with the solid core wire verses the generic graphite core wire.
