engine cleaning?

how do you guys do it? i have a pressure washer and a hot water heater but i'm a little hesitant to spray down a bunch of 33 year old relays and the ecu. am i being paranoid?

What does the power washer put out.... maybe 500 lbs pressure? I've seen those things strip paint off houses. If it was me, I'd use a wide tip and guide the gun within inches of the block and sump instead of fanning the entire engine well.

Marinating some kinda solvent while the engine cools down for 1/2 hour might help too..... you sure as hell dont want to wash a hot engine. And use plastic bags and rubber bands to protect anything questionable.... and put blankets over the fenders too.
