Oh great, I'm already on American Family's s**t list and got bumped onto their high-risk company...I got 2 tickets then had a wreck, then the 17 year old has had 2 wrecks recently...I get the sick feeling we're going to get non-renewed at some point anyway. I'm not concerned about the emissions stuff, but the insurance issue is something I had never thought of.

So what kind of walking shoes does your 17 year old wear now? I have been looking for a comfortable pair.

princess is mooching rides from her mother, me and every friend she has. she's still insured just in case she has to drive to the hospital, etc but she hasn't touched one of my cars since she drove home from the scene of the last boo-boo. she's not happy, but she had been warned prior to this last episode that she had gotten her "mulligan" with the first wreck, and she got no more chances.

The issue is that grey-market cars may not conform to US-DOT safety regulations. They often have a different VIN than those that are US legal, so it may get 'red-flagged' when you try to add one to your policy.
Not everyone on this Forum has had trouble insuring grey-market cars, but given your 'iffy' relationship with your insurance carrier, it may be best not to test them further.

Happy Motoring, Mark

Call them up beforehand and ask how much it would be to add the car on, give the VIN, don't mention it's a grey-market car.
