What exactly triggers the down shift when accelerating. The Haynes manual was no help to me. I compared linkages, vacum etc with my 450SE and see nothing missing.

Should be a kickdown switch under the accelerator pedal. Check to make sure the carpet hasn't folded over and covered it.
