230 to 250 camshaft exchange
Hi, I have a '72 250 with bad cam lobe, and a '69 230 with a stuck engine, but good cam. Will the cam from the 230 fit and work in the 250? I would replace the cam towers with the cam, so bearing wear would not be an issue. Thanks, Ron

My first Mercedes was a 1970 250/8 sedan. It came with a rod sticking out the side of the block. I found a shop with an engine for sale which looked much like mine and decided to use it's block with my head.
Turned out that besides the oil cooler plumbing being different, the engines were not quite the same and the cam ended up a tooth or two offset no matter what I did. It never did right quite right. I wonder if I had a 2.5 and bought a 2.8? Anyhow, pay very close attention to timing marks and lobe position if you try it. Michael
