Yes, and it makes the conversion quite easy. Basically The gas set up comes in addition to the fuel one. In my case I had one difuser (don't know the proper term in English) on top of the intake butterfly. Gas was sprayed there through a venturi. I could switch very easily from gas to fuel and vice versa with a switch that was cutting the earth of the injectors and opening the gas, and vice versa. I was starting the car on fuel when cold, then switching to gas. When I was in need of more power to overtake for ex, I was switching back to fuel. There was a fraction of a second hesitation when switching. This was a simple and basic set up. I was losing 10 to 20% power on gas, and consumption was up also by 20%. But LPG by then in Europe was half price compared to fuel. There are much more efficient set ups with multi points injection etc where power and consumption are better preserved. I don't know if the CIS set up itself can be used for gas. May be yes. But you may have to make it work with a higher pressure to compensate the lower efficiency of gas. Italy and Holland are the two big champions when it comes to using gas in vehicles. Holland may be your best source of information when it comes to MBs. Also keep in mind that natural gas is less efficient compared to LPG.
