Now France has gone to white lights in order to harmonize with other European Union countries.
incidentally The yellow headlights were only a war time order but continued on for decades.

Many years ago, I was given a 1973 grey-market Renault R6-TL hatchback. Had to replace the original yellow 5-inch headlamps with a set of 7-inch sealed-beams in Dodge Dart headlight mounts to pass inspection.

If you ever have the opportunity to drive with yellow lights with a good cover of snow on the ground, you will love them forever. With the w123 you can rig it pretty easily to run fogs and park lights only. Something about the color makes it SO much easier to see when the ground is white.

I TOTALLY agree. I have PIAA Extreme White bulbs in my headlamps and 55's in the yellow fog and 130's in my lower fogs that I have on a separate switch. I also seek to separate the fog function from the headlamp switch, but without actually removing the functioning circuit.

100% correct

So you have the factory wiring for the bumper fogs, and have an extra switch for the French fogs?

I was contemplating on adding bumper fogs (from a w116) but hooking up the second detent on the headlight switch to activate them since I don't have rear fogs (brake light mod instead).

Those French units make it stand out. I am not used to the W116 with the fogs outboard of the main beams.

I'll have to check that out! thanks..!

...I also have a rear fog lamp on the bumper that I have yet to wire up. Since I have a second set of rear tail light parts, can I use a socket from those to add to the assembly to use the factor fog lenses?? Hmmm....

I am sure w116's had rear fog lamps in the tail ights as an option but only those cars equipped from new had the wiring and the socket in the lamp holder.
W108's etc had to have an extra wire fitted to power the rear lamp with a switch on the dash which has a light in it to let the driver know that the lamp is going. It's illegal to use them in town here.

Nah, my headlamp switch doesn't do that, but would be interested in one that does!
