w108 windshield, back glass and trunk seals
I'm replacing the headliner on my '68 250S, so I know the windshield and back glass have to come out. The seal in the trunk is shot, too, so I found generic seals.
I hear some aftermarket seals don't fit right and are hell to get in, so I'm hoping these aren't some of those. I know OEM are best, but I'm on a budget. Any info would be helpful; thanks. Last edited by Tomguy; 10-02-2012 at 06:59 PM. |

Rubber seals for windshield, back glass and trunk, w108
I found a URO seal kit for all three at the FCP Groton site. They're selling the kit for $123.74. I know OEM is best, but I'm on a budget. Has anybody used this set? Is there a step-by-step for doing the windshield and back glass? If I take the glass out and then take the car, glass and seals to an auto glass shop to install, are they going to think I'm crazy? Mine is a '68 250S.

although pelican and other providers do provide generic seals, pretty much anyone who has ever bought them winds up wasting time, then buying MB seals

Agree

IMO From experience: * The aftermarket windshield seals are better than nothing. * All require more effort than OE to install. * Most leak, and require additional sealers (silicon). * Durability life unknown, turning hard/crumbling/cracking (UV exposure?). . |

Thanks. I've decided to use OEM seals for the windshield and back glass, both of which were frighteningly easy to remove from the car. I bought a windshield removal tool at Harbor Freight but would up just using my fingers.
I'll use the URO seal for the trunk. |

Ya know, maybe I live a charmed life, but I've had great luck with aftermarket seals on my car and customers' cars. I really don't understand why people seem not to like them.
