69 280SE Seatbelts

I just want to say that I am glad you guys are all out there... I am new, but thoroughly enjoy reading and learning from the posts...

Anyway, I recently found an original owner (since '71 anyway) 69 280SE in daily running condition, new tires, working A/C, all options working except heater blower motor (big surprise) Etc.

I have yet to pick it up as it is in Tx and I live in Fl, but I have seen many pics and am hoping I made a wise choice... I was told that I could be more than confident in flying in and DRIVING it 800 miles home... If its not as described, I will kick myself for spending $4000.00 sight unseen...

Anyway, I notice in the photos that there seem to be NO rear seatbelts in the car? Is this normal? I plan to have the kids riding in the car often and suppose that I better start looking for some aftermarket belts if these cars didn't come with them...

Anyone have experience with installing rear belts?

Thanks,

Richard

Not really familiar with how the 280SE's were equipped, but my old '68 220D/8 had rear seatbelts that were the same as the ones in the front. Always assumed they were factory installed?!? It is possible that the belts are there, but shoved down between the seat bottom and the seat back cushions. These were only lap belts in the rear if I remember correctly.

I agree with Lyc, Most rear belts have sunk out of sight by now.

I wouldn't worry though, as any NAPA store can provide you with quality belts, or better yet, go to a PNP and snatch some real MB belts in the color of your choice.

Thanks guys, it makes good sense that they are just out of view...

I will know for sure when I pick it up this weekend... By then I am sure I'll have lots more questions!
