I think they figured their diesels were not going to be in the left lane passing anyone so no need for a mirror. And, they didn't want to make some with some without, so they just said forget the whole thing all together.
Lazy Germans. Wonder what the official explanation is?

I got a right side mirror from Mercedes for my '72 W114 250. I paid about $75 but that WAS over 10 years ago. At the time the post-73 style mirrors (the type that mount where the door vent-glass used to be) were about $350.

Thread revival! Will a 4dr 114 or 115 carpet set fit in a 114 coupe? Maybe some pieces and others need modification to fit? I read floor pans were exactly the same.

Same-same.

I once had a 1975 230 with the dreaded California emissions package. This meant a thermal reactor that cost $1600 to replace. The reactor also got so hot it burned the paint off the hood.
But it was a blast to drive. And the 4-cyl gas got 25 mpg on the highway. But was there ever a lot of rust in the floor pans. |
