History Channel has a new documentary on the autobahn. Among other things they show a testdrive for a new Porsche in which the driver maxes it out at 220 mph before okaying the car for shipment to the new owner.

Autobahn? Daily routine

The story about the Porsche test drivers is basically correct. Every car leaves the factory for a short test spin which includes a short stretch on the A 81. Unfortunatly the A 81 in that area is restricted to 120 kph, so the 220 kph test drive was more for the show
