Help!
My headrest was broken and I was trying to get the zipper part of it open so that I could have more room to work with. I noticed that the zipper part does not actually have a zipper on it. How do I get the zipper back together?
Thanks Tim |

If it were mine, I would pop the cover off and run it over to a canvass shop for a new zipper. Shouldn't be a big deal to replace......$15.00?

my similar thingee
hey tim
my passenger headrest also came apart, the bolt just slipped out of the fitting that is pressed itno the headrest padding. After a few attempts at putting it together without opening up the cover I ended up slitting the cover near the opening since I too discovered a zipper fixture with no zipper! Whatisupwiththat?!? These two slits perpendicular to the post opening gave me enuf room to reassemple the pieces bouncing around inside the headrest. After the repair i just used some clear book tape to seal my two 2" slits which expanded the opening around the post. its on the bottom of the headrest and is discrete. I guess this probably does not help much since your zipper is already popped open. |

I think there is a special tool to get this to work. You can use a pair of needle nose pliers to get the "zipper" back together.
It is indeed a zipper, but the "opener" doesn't have the "closer" part. I just left mine unzipped. Peter

tim -- I think another viable option is to take a running stitch with black or navy thread and simply close up the zipper by pushing the needle through the cloth zipper edge at four or five spots along its length. I have used this type of repair on other recalcitrant zippers in my past

Peter, there was no part that took the zipper apart. It just came apart when I was fiddling around with the bolt and the screw.
